In 18th century England, Captain George Bryan "Beau" Brummell (Stewart Granger) was an elegant dandy. He has to leave the army after insulting the Prince of Wales (Sir Peter Ustinov). This gives him the opportunity to start a smear campaign against the prince. The prince, fed up with everyone around him, hires him as his chief advisor.
